God has this. God is in control. I believe this wholeheartedly, but we, as humans, tend to want to grab back what we are supposed to give to Him. He has asked us to leave our burdens at His feet, but instead, we act as if we are teasing Him when we say, “Here it is. No, I can do it. Here it is. No, I have it under control.” I am sure He is up there thinking, “If you would only give it to me. I could take care of it. I could give you peace.” But we still keep taking it back from Him into our hands thinking we can handle it.
Cast All Your Anxiety On Him
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Anxiety is big these days. The election was hard, ya’ll, no matter which side you are on. COVID has been hard, no matter what you think about it. The uncertainty has left many of us feeling anxious and out of sorts. I am one that tends to go with the flow, but this time has been very anxiety-producing for me. I hide it pretty well, but I can’t look at the news too much or I feel my anxiety amping up, including heart rate, worry, obsession. We can pray to God to take our anxiety and He will take it because He is our Father and doesn’t want us to be anxious.
He Will Give You Rest
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
God promises us rest – if we are willing to give our yoke (burden) to Him. It is tiring to constantly carry around our broken hearts, dreams, feelings, and burdens. We, as women, tend to not only carry around our own burdens, but we take on other people’s burdens as well. I am an emotional person and I care about people deeply. When a friend or family member is struggling, I want to fix it and this is something I carry around (in my neck muscles, according to my chiropractor). If I can learn to give these non-tangible burdens to God, instead of carrying them, I would rest better. I would have more peace. I would be more content.
God is For Me and You and You and You
Romans 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Take this verse in, my friend. If God is for Janis, who can be against Janis? How empowering is that thought? If we give it to God – our health, our businesses, our families, our friends – we can depend upon the fact that God is for us, even in the midst of hard times. God is your biggest fan and supporter, even if you don’t realize it. Trust Him.
So no matter what is going on around you, remember that God is waiting on you. He is waiting for you to share your burdens, to give them over to Him. It is time for us to fight against our human leanings and give it all over to Him. He is waiting.
