Quit Waiting on the New Year

It is time for us to quit waiting. Man, I can’t tell you how many times I have said, “I’ll lose weight in the New Year” or “______ will be my New Year’s resolution.” I have wasted years and years of time with this kind of thinking, but no more. God gives us a new opportunity to make changes each and every day we wake up.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
 they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23

Why Wait?

When God offers us this promise, why do we think we need a new number on the calendar or day of the week to make changes? Why are these measurements of time so important? God thinks of time much differently than we do. He is not constantly seeing what time it is on his heavenly cellphone or watch. His time is perfect and if we use the time He has given us to become closer to Him and make changes that glorify Him, He will bless our efforts.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. – Proverbs 16:9

Just Do It

Fear holds us back from so much. I have lived in fear for most of my life. Fear of what others would think, what they would say, how it would look, and fear of what happens if I don’t live up to their expectations. Fear of change. Fear of stagnancy. This doesn’t include all the fears that come along with being a mom.

The amount of fear I held inside of me kept me living a life that was done by rote. I just made it through the day, picked up my kids, and went home. Most days I would be in bed before 7 to sleep, rather than my habit of reading now. I was just worn out from living. But God showed me if I am willing to step out, He would help me take the next step. And the next step. And the next step. Just do it.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7

It has been a journey over the last 17 months of finding myself. Learning to trust God with my business. Learning to give up control to Him, because He is the best CEO I could have. I have had moments of anxiety, but if I can just lean into Him, He takes the fear out of my heart and reminds me of who I belong to.

If you are ready to start anew, God wants you to know He offers fresh blessings and mercies for every single day. Quit waiting on the “perfect” date, day, or time to step out into what He has for you. He is waiting!
